“We don’t have as much of a cybersecurity skills gap problem but a clarity problem.”

Much has been made of the cybersecurity skills gap in recent days.

I read a statistic that says “70% of cybersecurity professionals claim that their organization is impacted by the cybersecurity skills shortage.”

That’s staggering.

But what if some of that skills gap problem could be alleviated by simply increasing clarity? In my opinion, we don’t have as much of a cybersecurity skills gap problem but a clarity problem.

IT leaders should provide as much clarity as possible to their workforce. Setting expectations and norms will be the first step to overcome this industry-wide problem.
