How to Empower Your Team With Kolbe, Myers-Briggs and Emergenetics #204

In Episode #204 Bill is joined by Lou Pellicori, Managing Director, Chief Information and Technology Officer at Glenmede Trust Company, N.A.

Lou has decades of experience constructing high-performance teams & the best way he’s found to bring together the right people for the right projects is to first understand them at a deeper level. Every person has a unique personality/way of doing things that energizes them. These are found through tests such as the Myers-Briggs, Kolbe Index, & the Emergenetics Profile.

Blending people with different personality types that will complement each other is also very important. You don’t want a room full of the same type of people because certain things will get left off/forgotten thus reducing the quality of work. Lou had a great quote on this, “There are strengths & there are weaknesses, but even strengths become weaknesses when they’re applied at the wrong time.”

Lou tells a story from his time at a National consulting practice where a member of his team, Leo, was struggling when asked to be innovative/creative. Leo then took the Emergentics test & was found to be extremely process-driven. This completely changed the type of tasks he was given.
