Think Big, Think Exponentially!
Hi everyone, this is Bill. I just wanted to give a bit of a recap from last week’s CIO Innovation Insider lunch that was outstanding. I think a big part of coming to the Innovation Insider lunch is seeing what’s possible.

- What is possible with innovation?
We talked about how innovation is not comfortable. Innovation is about being uncomfortable – not only your discomfort, but it’s discomfort with people around you. In fact, if you’re not uncomfortable and the people around you are not uncomfortable, then it’s not innovation. It’s incrementalism. Incrementalism is when you’re making 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% improvement, but you are not making 10x improvement?
Are you making 10x leaps? You can’t make a 10x leap within your business, within a department, within an outcome that you’re gearing for if you’re thinking incrementally – or if you don’t believe it yourself. You don’t believe that it’s possible.
As a digital and a transformational leader, as a Chief Information Officer, as a Chief Innovation Officer, one of the biggest wins from the attendees at a CIO Innovation Insider lunch session was that this platform gives you the opportunity to think very, very differently than your peers.
The attendees come for a certain reason. Since “you are the average of the five people you associate with”, they want to be in a place where they can be surrounded by the best in the industry and within this particular topic. So you are “by design”, by my design, you are surrounding yourself with people who think in a certain way that’s different from others of your peers.
